While looking for the long rumored secret Wheel lock compartment, which I still haven't found after almost two years of ownership, I found a collection of multi prong connectors and a black bracket affixed to the forward inside of the small lidded storage compartment on the left bottom of the trunk. (convertible trunk)
It was hidden behind a velcro cover made of the trunk cover material. Looks like multiple computer female connectors with a lot of pins in each.
Any ideas what these might be? Does it hook to a GPS computer to locate the wheel lock? Perhaps a connection for the dealer to check my account balances? Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.
Wheel lock help would also come in handy. I handled the flat tire ok, but the upcoming brake job looks to be problematic without removing the wheels.
The connectors look unused, but needed, as there are a lot of them.
I believe the phrase is, " WTF?"
I have the stock remote cd player in the middle compartment and it is powered up but unused.
My 02 had the F45 suspension control hidden there. I suspect that if your car had the F55 (I think 03 was the first year for F55) that it was in there.
There is not a wheel lock compartment. It's just a small indentation in the floor underneath the carpet that the lock fits into. No lid, so sides, just a small curved dent just forward of the center compartment edge. If it's gone, you'll need to find a tire shop that can take the locking lugs off for you. There are other ways, but they can damage the wheel and will definitely damage the lock. The Chevy dealer might be able to track down a lock socket for you.
Just a helpful tip, all C5 aren't the same, put the year of the car in your question. It makes it easier to get correct help. Everyone won't go to your profile to see what you have.
DO NOT,,,,,,,,,,,,, reconnect the connectors to the module in that compartment. If you do,,, you will reactivate the F45 or F55 (which ever one you have) and you will need to have someone with a GM TECH 2 remove it if you ever decide that you want it removed.
When its disconnected and you have no codes, its been deactivated
Bill - both my original 00 and my current 99 had the F45. The current car had the shocks replaced with Konis before I bought it. I reprogrammed the A/f maps on the car when I bought it. No codes. When I added sound deadening to the trunk, I encountered the box in there. It was fully plugged in. I unplugged it while working, then reconnected it. Since then I get the service active handling/traction control light. I have not run the code yet, since the dash is apart for the next week as I work on gauge cluster and hud install... and I suspect that perhaps not having the select-dial plugged in may be part of it.
I will definitely run the code when it all goes back together, but was wondering if this scenario sparks any thoughts or suggestions.
Thanks for the help. Good thing the module was gone, I would have plugged it in and fixed that loose connection. Lesson learned.
The 03 convertible came loaded, but through the years things get changed up or go missing I guess. I'm still looking for the hot blonde that came stock from the factory in the passenger seat. And the wheel lock.

If you have an ACTIVE FUNCTIONAL Real Time Dampening system, it has to be completely connected to work and not throw any DTCs.
If you no longer want the system, it needs to be properly removed /deprogrammed from the BCM using the GM Tech2 and disconnected from the BCM.
I hate the F45 system and until you up grade to a real suspension Z51, ZO6 or Coil Overs, your missing out on what a great car you really have.
Better Z51 or ZO6 sway bars and C6 ZO6 shocks will make you a VERY HAPPY CAMPER! Get the spring for that package and you will thing you have a new car!

I'm happy with the existing Bilsteins right now. Also running C5 Z leafs, sways, newer (but not T1) end links and C5 Z wheels. I absolutely love it on the street. Zero track time yet. Been down for the count with the mother of all sinus infections for over a month. Once I rally, I need to suck it up and install the RST clutch. Right now, we're slipping over 4k under wot.
When I have more money to funnel towards the car, my priorities are:
C6Z brakes
Rims/tires to accommodate said brakes
Coilovers and sways
Pfadt tranny mount and new pucks for the drive shaft are going in with the clutch project this summer. Since I have new tires on the car, I have no plans to change rims/brakes and entire setup until they wear out. For now, the car handles like all Corvettes should right out of the factory.
I wish there was a way to know if the F45 programming was erased or not. Guess I'll learn more when I hunt down the codes. Also still no resolution for the "Service Traction Control" light thrown on occasion when I engage my high beams. That is going to take some investigation, but I suspect it may have to do with momentary draw since I have my lights wired with the hi-4 setup so the lows remain on with the highs.
