Today my 2000 was at the garage for the 3rd time, horn failure. Any one else have this problem, and if so, what is the solution. He hasn't charged me for the replacement horns, but there Is labor every time. What do you say.
Check your relating fuse first then get under the front end and pull off the connector to the horns and clean the contacts thoroughly, if you still have issues, its probably the membrane in the steering wheel. I had the same issue and found the plug connector to the horns were seriously corroded. Cleaned them up good and beep, beep!
After 3 times you would think they would check the connecter. That said, I would check the connecter myself. If that is the problem you should be due a refund.
My recommendation and 2 cents,,, You have a ground issue.. Check and clean chasssis ground G102 behind the passengers side headlight on top of the frame.
Make sure that you completely disassemble the connector to get to the male and femal pins inside the black connector.
Thanks for the suggestions. I will ck them all out.
OK horn worked fine for a while. Coming down the PA turnpike the other day, all of a sudden my horn started beeping. I hit the center of the steering wheel where the horn button would be and the horn stopped. Now it doesn't blow at all. Do you think I may have a problem in the column? By the way, the other times I had the horns replaced, they were bad, blown or whatever you want to call it. They wouldn't beep at all. Is anyone else having horn problems with a C5?
