Default New Brake pads/lines..Strange problem, advice needed

I just had Carbotech brake pads (XP10 F, XP8 Rear) installed with stainless steel braided brake lines on my 04Z and am running into the following issues. I doubt it's anything wrong with the pads.
  • Rear brakes are dusting way more than fronts
  • Vibration while braking

The First issue is really odd. I took it out a few times and really did some hard stops. Why would the rears be sending out more dust?

The vibrations could be causing by me keeping the rotors that were on the car. Vibes seem to go away after the brakes get decently hot but come back when cooled off. I did notice one rotor has a slight crack.

I would add that I contacted Carbotech and my shop and both said to give it some time. Perhaps I am running crappy rotors. Anybody else run into something similar?

Consider replacing the rotors on your car. Then determine if any of your issues are resolved.

You said you "had these pads installed"; so I take it you didn't do them yourself? If so, the simplest place to start is to check that your lug nuts are torqued appropriately.

If you didn't have this vibration with the old pads, it's likely something associated with the work that was done. I always watch the technician torque my lug nuts to 100 ft-lbs, ever since the first tire change when I developed a vibration on braking. I assume the first guy used an impact wrench and not a torque wrench. I loosened them all and torqued them to spec (100 ft-lbs) and the vibration went away.

Once you rule that out, were your rotors turned by the brake installer? If not, that's the next place to look. Check the runout on the rotors and resurface or replace if they're out of spec.

I went with a reputable shop which services cars for track events. Primarily BMW's but they have the occasional vette so perhaps the torque is wrong. I am replacing my rear tires this weekend so I will have them re-torque all the lugs. If that doesn't work I will probably just order new rotors.
