Default Cat back advise

I Have been looking around and tried a few cats back and have not found one that suits my needs .
I have LT headers HF cats X pipe and TI exhaust just looking for something a little bit more agreesive than than the TI catback.
Have Tried Corsa extreme < way to extreme ) Xs 3" cat back still to loud .
I realize with headers and HF cats any system I get will be at least 30% louder . Was know thinking of going with Corsa Pace or the b and b fusion that would give me the option of loud or quite but it's quite pricey ..

Norwalk CT ,,,,,,

Bud,, your just down the street. I live in Gales Ferry near the sub base.

Finding a system that makes your ears happy is a tough nut to crack.

I have a Stainless Works complete system but,,,,,,,,,, its 3" stem to stern. I believe its just what you want.

Before I did my heads cam project, it was perfect. No drone and just the right DB and tone.

After the heads cam swap, its a little more aggressive but NOTHING extreme.

There are lots of CT corvette functions during the summer.. Get out and find some cars with different systems and get them to take you for a drive and see if you like the set up. If you do,,, copy it.

Bill

Carlisle is coming up.. Maybe you can find a system there.

Bill

Hi,
Thanks much for info . How is the fitment on the stainless works system ? Can be very tight with 3" pipes. Are they much louder than oem TI system ?

I have the b&b route 66 and love the tone.. It's quiet but with your setup it would prob be perfect, for me at least!

Stainless Works is one of the best fitting 3" systems. ZERO issues with fitment.

The system on a C5 ZO6 with headers and a VARARAM was (to me) perfect) Nice tone, louder than the TI, and ZERO DRONE!

However, once I installed my ported 11:1 heads, big cam and FAST 90, there is some drone, (not all that bad) and it is louder than it was on the basically stock engine.

I had LT's, catless x-pipe, and Ti's and they were wayy too quiet. I traded the Ti's for Corsa Pace Car's last week and it is absolutely the best sounding exhaust I've heard for C5's. I can't wait to hear it after my heads/cam. It's the only exhaust I've heard that truly is quiet(er) (you can still hear it while driving) while driving and wakes the dead at WOT. It sounds exotic and high pitched too, not the usual deep muscle car sound you'd expect to come out of a Trans Am or Camaro. The Pace Car's sound like an exhaust you'd be really happy with.

May consider the "Ti Mod".. it will give a great combo in sound and performance. Almost stock around town with a deeper idle rumble not too loud but throaty when you hammer it. You can do it with 1.5" or 2" depending how loud you want it (bigger=Louder).. Plus you will keep the light weight Ti mufflers. Ti available at TitaniumJoe.com and most welding shops can weld Ti with a Tig. Not much power gain but it does bypass the factory bottle neck into the muffler so it definatly won't hurt performance. and should sound better with Headers and X-pipe.

This will probably be my mod next.. youtube has a couple vids of the sound.

2" Ti bypass mod

i really like the sound of XSpower mufflers, theres no drone very tolerable during all normal fazes of driving but hit it and it cracks open. had the Ti's as well it was to quiet for what i wanted and the rest were to loud for me, settled in on the XS power. im waiting on my new kooks but dont believe there will be any difference in sound with there headers and catted X-pipe.

Youll have to wait in line for the XS Power as there is no update to there availability but i think for the money wait.

Bill has the best advice. Listen to a few and see what you like. Other people have different opinions about what they think sounds good, and sound clips off youtube and such don't really give a true picture.

Although you need to listen to a few, I have LG pros, LG catless 3" x-pipe, and B & B Route 66 on mine. I like the sound. It is noticeable that it is not stock, but not too obnoxious either.

Good luck.

I have a full XSPower system with the 2.5" catback and it's quiet when cruising but loud at WOT. Pretty much the same as Ohyoufan described with his system. I believe the 2.5" XS catback is similar to the Corsa Pace Car systems. You did say you tried the 3" XS power. I can't say how much different in sound the 2 systems are but they look similar so maybe the 2.5" system is out as well and that would mean the Corsa Pace Car isn't what you want either.

Maybe the GHL system would be good for you. People who have them always say that system has a deeper muscle car sound instead of the higher pitch of many other systems.

Ok,
Well went with Corsa Pace got great deal @ WCC! I did try XS 3" but only installed one side the fitment was something to be desired , axle pipe had about 1/8" clearance from cradle and had to really struggle to get muff to fit into rear hanger was almost 1" to long .. know could have been since I do not have OEM H pipe ? My Corsa extreme system fit perfect! guess you get what you pay for ....
