smog help
I have a '99' coupe. owned this vet for 13 yrs. have 45,000 miles and have never had a problem with smoging it. It only has induction and exhaust aftermarket but this was on it when I bought it with 3,000 miles. Now it won't pass the pre-monitor check on the oxygen censor heater and evaporater. I have been advised to just keep driving it normally and the cars computor will re-set. I have put about 250 miles of all kinds of re starts. Even let it to warm,in short tried everything. Does any one have any thing that would help. had to pay dmv with no smog and now time is running out.

those take the longest to run unfortunately... and the evap likes to see the ambient temp drop down... be sure to start and drive it in the am when it is cooler (not sure where you live)... driving it is the best way to get the monitors to run, i check them with a scan tool to see the status before i take the vehicle in....

If your battery has gone dead or has been disconnected, or if you had any engine codes cleared. You will need to drive it to get the obdII monitors to run and pass. Evap usually takes the longest. Most cars seem to respond to steady throttle interstate type driving or about 15 miles. I live in n.j. And here you can have 2 monitors not complete on a 1999 and older car and till pass as long if there are no codes/CEL. Check your state laws. You can also do a google search for obdII drive cycle or your car. Hope this helps.
