Hey guys I bought the Reverse light HID kit from Corvette Mods and I'm in the process of installing it. I hooked them up for a test run before installing and noticed the fuse btsi bu 10a was blown. I replaced it and the fuse popped instantly. The keys were in the on position and the headlights were on when I changed the fuse.
I don't know if you have a manual or automatic, and I don't know if your fuse was already blown before you started, but if it's a manual transmission it's very common for the b/u switch to short in the transmission and blow the fuse. It's an easy job to unscrew the old one and put a new one in if so. I'd try a new fuse with all the b/u lamps disconnected and see if it still blows, or you can disconnect the b/u connector on the b/u switch and measure on the prongs on the switch itself to ground, it should read open (infinite) with the plug disconnected. NOTE: your approach lights voltage comes from a different fuse, so don't let that confuse your troubleshooting. It does however use the same bulbs, wires , grounds, etc. so if they work with everything connected that points even more to the b/u switch shorting.
No, that's a jack it up or use ramps situation. If it's shorted, unscrew it with a deep thin wall socket and have your new one ready to put in to avoid fluid seeping out. Verify that it's shorted first.
