Default Rasp?

I know this has been discussed over and over but ppl with a similar setup chime in because I cant decide. I cant't stand a raspy exhaust note so i'm debating on deleting my stock cats because of an annoying rattle. My setup will be shorty headers, no cats, wcc x-pipe and b&b route 66.. Think this will sound raspy? (Not worried about smell or emissions test)

Want to buy a new set of stock cats? I have a set in garage with less than 50 miles on them?

You could allways try it with the cats in there then if you want it a little louder then take the cats out. Cats will help cut rasp down if there is any.

I have LG longtube pros, catless LG x-pipe, and B&B route 66 on my '99.

It is hard for me to associate the terms like "rasp" for what I actually hear to know if this is what you are thinking, but my impression is that although there is a non stock tone that I like, there is still some "rasp" to it. So I expect that your new setup will still have some. I suspect that you will need to get different mufflers to change the tone and get rid of the rasp.

Good luck.

Well I already have the B&B route 66 axle back and I love the tone, it's just not loud enough...

So to clarify you have on the car now?
* Shorty Headers
* WCC X-pipe (with stock cats)
* B&B route 66 catback

X-pipe will make the sound a little smoother... maybe even a tad quieter from what i understand then a H-pipe. i doubt you will hear much of any difference without cats.. maybe a tiny bit louder but im not sure its going to do what you want it to do sound wise.

Long tube headers and a 3" Xpipe will make the difference in sound i bet your looking for... As well as gain power of the shorty headers. OR different mufflers, the Route 66 Mufflers are a full size muffler, they are designed to be mellow. Maybe the B&B PRT system is more of what you are looking for without changing everything else.

No right now I have shorty headers, stock cats, stock H pipe and b&b route 66
I am wanting to delete the cats and replace the H pipe with and x pipe.. As far as sound I'm not looking for a big increase in db, just a little more growl.

the Cats being removed should gain a little sound.. keep in mind you will get a code from the rear O2's if you dont have them tuned out if you remove the cats. maybe someone else can chime in but the sound gain will be pretty small, doubt you will get rasp from it because the mufflers you have are pretty large.

As for the X, again i have heard a few times that the sound might actually go down in volume but gets rid of the burbly motor boat sound that you have with the H-pipe.. sounds smoother but dont think it will be louder... Also will eliminate the exhaust "Gingle" that alot of people have with the stock H pipe.. I have read that the X will make it slightly higher pitched then a H, making it smoother and more "Exotic" sounding..

Thanks for the input. I've already had the rear o2 sensors coded out when I had my tune done so no worry worry. If I just gain a small increase in loudness I will be happy. I was also thinking the same thing as far as not having much rasp because the mufflers are large and not very aggressive.

Also keep in mind that without a cat you will get a little extra smell out the exhaust.. the cat burns off fuel and other things, I hear you can get a sulfery/rotton egg smell if you drive hard without cats.

I have basically the same set up, but with a Magnuson Supercharger. It has a nice throaty sounds and gets a little "raspy" at the very high RPM's only.

Thats ok I don't mind the smell. I drive the car every other weekend at most so it's not a big deal. I had an LS1 trans am with LT's and no cats and the smell really didn't bother me
