I'm the owner of a C5 -01 convertible, imported to Sweden from Japan. As it turns out Japan-vehicles don't have the RFA-module installed from the factory and consequently can't handle FOB's. I don't want the tire pressure function, just the FOB.
Connection cable exist where the RFA-module usually sits and RFA-modules + FOB's can of course be obtained 2nd hand.
Is it possible to install a RFA-module in my car or are there any other components/software missing?
Can you bring up the FOB learning as called out in the NA manual? There may an option turned-off in the BCM programming that would require a TechII to turn-on.
I'm thinking it would either require you to use a TechII to turn the option on or you'd need to replace the BCM with a N/A version which allows the FOB. I'll try to look at the service manual and see which BCM options are available.
It also might be possible the option will just appear once the RFA module is plugged in.
One of the things programmed into the BCM is the country of sale and it listed Japan as one of the options. So, when Japan is selected the RFA is likely turned off. Sounds like a TechII will be needed to make it work.
