When you guys removed the EBCM did you have to remove that large coolant hose on top? I'm looking at mine now and it looks like it will make things 100x easier if I do.
And I guess there are 6 torx screws? the bottom ones seem kinda hard to get to....
I'd start taking stuff off, but I just drove the car so it's a little too hot. I'm gonna wait until it cools down to attempt anything.
oh and does the C1214 code always means something is up with the EBCM itself, or can it be a blown relay/fuse that I should look at first?
It was intermittent until recently. Now it's always on. It used to go on when it rained hard then few days later used to disappear.
I just remove the air bridge and work from the passengers side.
YES, SIX Torx screws and it is sealed to to the BPMV so you will have to use a little force to pop it off. DO NOT pry DOWN or side ways. You will break off the solenoid coils!!!!!!!!
MAKE SURE that you remove the body screws and not th3e cover screws!!!
Make sure that you apply some RTV to reseal the repaired one.
DTC 1214 indicates that the internal power relay is bad and it cant be replaced without openiing up the module. The WHITE relay with all of the RTV covering it is the one that gets repalced.
If you are sending it off to be repaired,,, DO NOT open it up as far as the one pictured! They will do it at the repair place.
I just wanted you to see what was inside the module so you dont damage it taking it off the BPMV.
it's definitely easier to remove the upper coolant hose, however not necessary. If you have a friend handy, have them help hold it out of the way while you work. That's what I did
they also mention removing two connections. I only see that one large one in the pictures? (oh and that small one which is connected to the ABS solenoid thingy)
If you look at the BPMV,, theres nothing that can get damaged Its sealed. You could tape some clear plastic over the poppets to keep water and dirt off of them
How on earth do you pry this thing off? I got all the 6 screws out (WHAT A PITA!!!!) but this thing is on so tight, even trying to pry it with a flathead isn't doing the trick. I even tapped the the flathead with a light hammer to drive it in, but nothing!!!!
and they are the right screws. I did not touch the 'cover' screws. lol
the seal broke off the top when I pried it off, but SOB still won't come out when I pull it out from the weird angles I'm working with!
a whole lot of wiggling, prying, and cursing gone mine out. Kind of a tight space but try heating the sealing edges a bit. If you're sure you got the right screws just keep at it
