Default Brake Upgrade Tech

I'm looking at GM alternatives for brake upgrades and wondering which would work and of them which is best for the buck.

Obviously, I found the C6 Z06 option. That's plastered everywhere on the forums and seem a great choice for about $2k for a full new set. That's likely where I'll be before long.

However, what other options exist? Just the C6 Z?

What about the following::
XLR
CTS-V (2nd gen)
CTS-V (04 to 07 1st gen)
2014 Z28 carbon ceramics
ZR1 carbon ceramics

Brakes are my blind spot. Not well versed, and I couldn't find much on here beyond dozens of posts for C6 Z. They seem like more than I could want, but thought I'd check. Feel free to point out anything I'm missing here - I'd be glad for the education.

Am one of the many who did the C6Z06 upgrade.
It depends on what you are wanting the upgrade to do for you?
I do not track my C5 so it was cosmetic. The std C5 brakes function very well for daily driving etc. if you re planning to track your C5 then will need to spend more than $2k on brakes and rotors.
I purchased a slightly used set of brakes and rotors off a 2010 Grand Sport, they had maybe 50 to 100 miles on them. Was a great price. The brakes coupled with stainless steel lines and hawk pads have been a fantastic upgrade. I had the calipers powder coated and rebuilt/re-sealed my calipers.

I run a lightweight set of Strange brakes on my '98' I use them for the 1/4 track but haven't found a need to switch back to my OEM style aftermarket slotted ones. It depends on what your goal is for the upgrade. I have no problem on the street or stopping at the track with the smaller brakes. Fact is that I also have a "04" with stock brakes with 22k on them and I feel the strange have just as good, if not better stopping power.
