I have a hood seal on front part of the hood to keep water and grime out but the glue holding it on is coming loose in the middle. Any idea what kind of glue I could use to re-attach it?
I think the engine bay heat eventually breaks down the adhesive especially if it is stuck on the forward face of the bumper facia (where most vendors instruct you to stick it). The downforce from the hood edge and build up of dirt eventually unsticks it.
I've tried several different hood seals from several different suppliers and they all eventually came loose. Luckily, I don't need one anymore since I went to a stock Z06 air box.
You would probably need to use some heavy duty glue to keep that sucker on. But, personally, I would be concerned if and when you decide to remove it. If you are sure that it never needs to come off, then I think a two part epoxy adhesive should do the trick.
Spend the $15.00 and replace it. Permanent adhesives like epoxy or contact cement wil ruin the paint.
After removal, clean the contact area throughly using isopropyl alchohol and make sure it is dry. Warm the surface of the contact area gently with a heat gun or hair drier. Press firmly along the entire lengh of the new seal.
Pressure sensitive adhesives will fail if any void can collect moisture.
As Cybermind stated this mod will require replacing more than once. It is not the greatest location for a seal as water will collect very easily in this area. After rain or washing always remove the excess water that will collect in this area with an electric leaf blower, shop vac or detail air blower.

Forget the aftermarket stuff.
Buy an OEM C5 fender to hood seal. Same as the ones on your fenders now.Thoroughly clean the front bumper area where the seal will go with alcohol. The OEM seal is too long for the bumper so you will have to cut it to length. When installed the seal's fit and appearance are OEM and works perfectly.
Had mine on for 5+ years. No issues.

While we are on this subject, does/can some one recommend a certain vendor's product (hood seal) that they have had success with & the glue has held?

would I just purchase this from a GM dealer or is there a website you recommend?
Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner. I was at Lime Rock since Thursday PM for the Historic Festival. avigar listed the part #. Right or left does not matter. You can find them for $25.00 or less. They do cost more than the aftermarket but it's a much better fit and look. You will like the OEM seal.
