On my 03 z06, I have been experiencing a "pop" or "bang" from the rear on intermittent starts from a stop. Has been happening over the past several hundred miles. Not every time, but every probably 3rd time. I lubed the axle splines and behind the hub and torqued the axle nut back down afterwards, but still have the noise. Also, have been experiencing a noise over slow speed bumps, cannot figure out what that is either. Ive been under the car numerous times, this is really getting old.
Several possibles
Sway bare links, and lube the bushings on the sway bar where they bolt to the aluminum cross member Take them off and the bushings have a split in them and can come off the sway bar. Then the rubber bushings around the spring. Then loose shock mounts. Then the bushings in the upper and lower control arms. After that, probably something in the torque tube.
So tomorrow my best bet is to get under the car, and torque everything to spec. I think the sway bar is okay, i've checked it before. I love this car, but it is so frustrating at times. It only has about 51k miles.
pm sent. I suggest you contact David Farmer, davidfarmer on this site. he just started a shop and he should be able to help, this would be something he could sort out pretty quickly
Well, I drove the car some today, and was unable to duplicate the noise. I don't know if the Deep Creep that I used to lube the splines/hub just needed time to soak, or if the sound has just left for a while. I will keep you updated on the situation.
