I've tried to search for this topic but haven't found anything pertaining to this particular issue. First off my car is an 03 zo6 with a small cam, exhaust and tune. When I go to start my car first thing in the morning or after it has sat for a few hours nothing happens when I turn the key. No click from the starter or anything. So I sit there and turn the key on and off and eventually it will crank and fire right up. I'm wondering if the ignition isn't getting the signal from the key therefore not allowing it to crank? Also sometimes it will throw me into the "pull key for 10 seconds" security mode but most of the time it doesn't. If any of you guys know what's going on of have had this issue I'd really appreciate the help. This car is going to be my new daily driver for a few months so I really need this sorted out. Thanks for the help fellas!
Thanks for the replies it was very helpful and i didnt even know about reading the codes like that. Security light is not on at all when the key is in the off position.
Codes:
PCM- P1626 H
TCS- C1221 H
C1222 H
C1248 H
C1282 H
C1295 H
IPC- U1255 H
HVAC- B0361 H C
No codes anywhere else...
Thanks again for informing me
I just had a similar problem. Noticed the battery was loosing a charge and it was only maybe six (6) months old. The highest I noticed the charge was 12.25 and within two days had gone to 11.9X, when I pulled it out one side seemed bulged out a little.
Hope you get it straightened out! It stinks not knowing when it might not want to start.
I guess I forgot to add that it only happens after it sits for a few hours, so far it has always started eventually. Its like its not getting the command to crank... Everything else works great though.
Mine had the "nothing" issue when trying to start about a month ago. The gauges swept and all that, but no start. It had just been running a few minutes earlier. Stopped for coffee.
It seemed like the solenoid was getting voltage, so I found a long breaker bar and gave the solenoid a few taps. Fired right up and has worked since. With headers, it's visible.....not sure with manifolds.
Of course I bought a new starter with solenoid just in case....so now it's guaranteed not to fail!
Ok sorry guys I've been on the road working this entire time and haven't had a chance to look at the vette until now. I've tried cleaning the keys and I've tried both keys as well and the problem still exists. The only code that reoccurs is the TCS C1295 H. I'm guessing that has nothing to do with my problem... It has started today on the first try so I guess next step would be to try tapping on the starter next time I have an issue which I'm sure will be tomorrow or tonight maybe. Could it be the starter relay? I'm not sure if relays have intermittent issues like a solenoid on a starter... Also I don't have a multimeter to check the battery
yea, its weird. I have the exact same thing happen to me. Drive to the gym and when I come out no starter click. My relays click but no starter. Happens to me alot but not all the time.
Sorry or the delayed responses fellas, it's outtage season and I've pretty much been gone the entire time. Home long enough to kiss the wife and son and car lol then on the road again. I got to my car last night though and I could hear the click over in the passenger side from the relays, not sure how I never noticed it since it's pretty dang loud.... With all of my symptoms I'm thinking that it is my starter solenoid so I ordered a new one. It should be here in a week so I will let you guys know if that fixed the problem. Thanks again guys for helpings sort this out!
