went by the local gm dealer to pick up a timing chain for my ls1, I got home and noticed the part number looked funny....gm PN 12646386
I google it... says 2014 series lt series, which appears to be in the 2014 corvettes... anyone have any idea on compatibility? I guess I could return it.. thanks!
went back today, they verified that in fact. this is the new chain off the gen V block, and that this was the new chain for ls2. that the ls2 chain crossed over to this. he said it was in there parts system, but not out in the catalogs yet.
I installed the LS2 chain (12586482) in my 2000 LS1
Me too!
I just finished putting my '01 coupe back together yesterday, after installing an ATI damper on it. Figured since I had it down that far, I might as well as throw a new chain on it too....
Except that if you go to order the 12586482 LS2 chain from a GM dealer they show it superseded by a new part number which is the same (dimensionally anyway) as the "lighter duty" LS chain. They also show no inventory on the 12586482 chain. No idea how the new LT1 compares, but obviously you could just compare the thickness of the chain links.
