If by "tires" you are referring to real drag tires like MT ET streets or the like, then yes, that is a possibility (With the tune). Some people need gears to get there if the bolt on's aren't enough though.

DR stands for drag radials. You dont usually want radials. Get an actual bias-ply racing tire. You get the ripple effect from the soft sidewall and and better grip in most any case.

I have heard that auto's do well with radials though.. which transmission do you have?

I'm assuming you are talking about slicks? I have the stock tranny with a m6

Good driving is more important than anything. Member Ranger ran 11s with a bone stock Z, tires and all. Assuming you already have 3:42s, with tune and tires, I believe your car is capable of 11s.

Your normal tires are the drive train FUSE. When they break loose, they prevent HARD PARTS from breaking.

When you add sticky tires to the car, and start punishing the STOCK drive train, you run the risk of breaking the short shaft in the rear end.

If you start to get WHEEL HOP, get off the accelerator immediately or you will be able to inspect your ring and pinion from the OUT SIDE of the car!

That being said, you can easily harden up the rear end to make it a LOT more reliable.

Street slicks or slicks are great. I use the MT ET Street tires I mentioned before. They are not a full slick and are a DOT approved tire. Not that they are a good street tire. But they are a great drag tire that you can drive on for a few days till you get around to changing them. I did a pfadt solid transmission mount and have never had wheel hop running these tires. My trans is stock and Im pushing 400 wheel and launching at 3k ish rpm. As long as you get rid of the violent wheel hop, using slicks shouldn't be to much for the stock drive train to handle.

I have a feeling you are going to have a very hard time hitting 11's with a non z, the biggest factor is how well you can drive your car. Heck I was only able to get 12.36 out of my z which has intake, exhaust, tune and a little bit of weight savings with DR's. Now given that was my first time out and Im not the best driver at any means but Id say Im about average maybe a little better than average.

Yea well some of the best drivers barely hit 11.8 in a bone stock z, given it didnt have DR or bias plys it is a lighter car with an extra 55 hp.
