Default Valve spring replacement question

Hey guys I have a 98c5 with stock ls6heads and a descent size cam on my car right now 230/231I'm
Thinking of changing/upgrading to better valve springs I know the current duals tha are on it have about 12k on them and the prior owner DID race on them occasionally.. What would be a good set of springs that will be able to withhold the cam I have a considerably high lift on the intake/exhaust also.. I already have the upgrade seats an all of that just looking for springs to cut cost.. Thanks guys

Springs need to be matched to your cam lift. I would talk to Comp & Texas Speed and see what both of them say.

Why don't you try to see what springs are on it now. everyone races "occasionally" so the springs should have plenty of life unless he had a huge cam in it. If they are duals, they should be good for some decent lift

Without checking/knowing what you have to start with, you're kind of shooting in the dark.

OP: you also don't say what "considerable high lift" means. Too vague.

Btw, I would add PSI to any list of potential spring suppliers as well.

Already having seats and retainers doesn't allow you to install other springs. The fit has to be correct. Best to either replace what you have with the same spring, or replace all. A loose fitting retainer/seat can lead to catastrophe later down the road.

Thanks for all the replies, I believe the previous owner had a 233/235 cam set up, I checked the springs and they were duals on them.... I have a .615/.618 lift set up just wondering if I should just replace the springs or if they should be fine still... Seems like I can hear valve tap louder now a days or maybe it's just my imagination?

You need to find out what manufacturer of springs you now have in the car.

Are you having problems or do you just want to replace them because they have 12k and a few track passes? Remember the old saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it"

I've always preferred: "Let sleeping valve springs lie".

I left other comment but they didn't answer the original question, so i'll stick with I agree.

Just wanted to change it for maintenance sake... Car has a cam on it now I'm sure valves taking more of a beating than usual since car is driven daily, ever since I put on the 243 with the springs I've always noticed valve noise louder on the right side... Is this normal cause I'm just assuming their springs that need replacing ... Noise isn't obnoxiously loud but it is noticeable especially towards the passenger side.. Suggestions?

Are you sure it's the valves and not the lifters or a leak at the exhaust manifold ?

I'm just assumin right now that valve springs are the culprit I have yet to get my lifters checked and the exhaust manifold
