Default parking brake/E-brake replacement

Ok... I looked all over in the DIY thread and did a search before I started this , so if I missed it I apologize

Anyone have any links as to how to replace the e-brake ring thingamabob?

Is this something simple to do? am I better off letting a shop do this?

I am going to have the hub off today to replace a while stud so I figure I should replace this since I think it's either out of adjustment, alignment or I nicked the shoe when working on the hub last night and now it is scraping the inside of the rotor I think.

I'll know when I get it torn back apart... again... tonight.

TIA

Just has a star wheel adjuster like the OLD drum brakes, your probably need adjustment sine it's does NOT adjust automatically like the old drum brakes did.

thanks, that was hat I found as well. Hoping it's just a matter of adjustment and I didn't screw it up.

That adjusts the CABLE, not the brake shoe inside the drum.

yeah, that came out to be quite a cluster-you-know-what.... that coathanger looking spring popped out on that side this time.

I'll be taking it to someone who knows what they're doing to get that back together later on.

annoying...

What happened? It shouldn't have been that hard to put the spring back on while the hub was off.

And NO, the shoe does not self adjust.

The show definitely does not self adjust. The star wheel adjustment definitely works though, I just did this and my e brake works like a charm. Look at the other side to put the "coat hanger" piece back together. Not too bad but you do have to position it right to keep the shoe from hinging out.

Replaced the hub on Tuesday night and the e-brake ring seemed mis-aligned.... consequently I could hear it rubbing on the way home.

In the process of putting the hub on I damaged the ABS wire and so last night had to put the old hub back in. The hub wasn't bad, but I had to replace the broken wheel stud ( the reason I replaced the hub in the 1st place ).

When I started to pull the rotor off last night since it was binding, the e-brake ring popped and the spring came with it.

SO... I can't use the other side as a reference as it kinda did the same thing when I bought the car 5 years ago... I didn't know that it was there and when I pulled the rotor it happened just as last night.

So that will get taken care of soon.
