Does the PCM store Odometer information?

Default Does the PCM store Odometer information?
I'm curious about what a tech told me while I was getting an inspection sticker today. He said he thought GM vehicles stored the VIN and accumulated mileage in the PCM, in addition to the odo in the instrument cluster. I've got a 2000 C5 coupe.

Does anybody agree with this? My guess is that miles are only tallied in the cluster.

No mileage, just VIN.

The VIN is stored in the PCM.

Odometer information is stored in the DIC board of the instrument panel cluster.
