I have an 03 w/ 6 speed and on a cold start if I didn't leave the car in reverse from a previous cruise I have to move the car forward about an inch for it to go in reverse. A time or two it has been stubborn to get into any gear but rarely does this happen. I had the clutch and trans.oil changed out last year and have only put on about 2000 miles this year. Clutch or adjusting shifter cables?? Either way it sounds like a trip to my dealership. #^&% Any opinions would be appreciated, thanks guys.

Just don't let someone sell you a "Cable adjustment" as you don't have one on the clutch or shifter.
there is a shifter adjustment if it's not going into gear easily but there is no clutch adjustment
chevy in their infinate wisdom went full retard with our clutch and used a "self adjusting pressure plate" rather than a threaded rod on the master cylinder which would have been both cheaper and more reliable
It's possible your clutch isn't releasing completely. Does the car want to "creep" slightly when you put it in gear?
Reverse can be a little iffy on my car as well. It seems to be a pretty common complaint with these trannies. Usually I just go into 2nd first and then it slides right into reverse.
There are several things that you can do to make sure that all the transmission related stuff is working correctly.
If you examine your shifter and shifter box, you will see that it is mounted with rubber bushings. Make sure that they are not deteriorated
The shifter adjustment is a simple insert a ZERO PIN (can be a drill bit if you dont have the factory pin) in the hole on the front of the shifter housing and if it doeant go into the hole, loosen the two bolts that mount it and move the housing forward or rearward.
Make sure that your clutch fluid is clean and full. TRUST ME,,, yours will most likely be BLACK and nasty. It will need to be changed a whole lot of times to get it clean if it ever comes clean.
Mine is a ZO6 Shifter and it doesnt have the rubber bushings like you have under the two mounting screws. Yours will have the rubber bushings.

Man I love this web site. Thank you all for your suggestions and comments, and your time, especially Bill. I will be working on a few things this winter so these pics will be more than helpful. This is what Montana winters are all about.
