I plan to replace my ignition switch. In the FSM it says to first remove the lock cylinder electrical connector. Then, there is an IMPORTANT note for once you have removed the lock cylinder. It says to note how the lock cylinder wire is wrapped around the base of the switch bezel.
Can someone clarify this so I don't screw it up (or try to keep me from screwing it up). I am not sure why this is shown as an important note.
Can't tell you why its important, but as you carefully remove the lock bezel, you will see a black wire attached that circles the ignition cylinder. Just re-assemble the same way.
It's important because it's the wire that goes to the BCM for reading your key resistance.
It's also very tiny wire and any excessive flexing will break the strands leaving you stranded.
