Default 2001 Headlight

Shutting off lights both go down but drivers side light comes up halfway. Shut down again both go in, drivers side again pops up halfway. Adjusted manually in to close but does same thing. Any help ?

Not sure who posted this under my account. Hope you got the info you needed

Sounds like you have a worn out bump stop.

Yupp! Look for the little white plastic/rubber bump stops. Sounds like the you're missing one.

What is happening is the arm is passing by the end of the down position stop and then it hits on the back side of the up position stop.

Manually move the headlight and look down by the arm that moves the headlight and you'll see the 2 stops.

There is a metal tab the white stop bumpers are installed on. What you really need to do is get the arm to to hit the metal tab. You do this by removing the motor bolts and putting a washer or 2 on each bolt between the motor and the bracket it mounts too. that way, the arm doesn't just crunch up the end of the plastic bumper and then pass by the stop like it is right now.

There is a service bulletin on this and I believe there is a specific GM p/n washer/spacer just for this repair. You don't need it though, regular hardware store washers will work just as good.

They are visible. You should see them on the inside of the assembly
