Default upgrading c5 diff to c6 z06 internals

Hey,

So I am looking to up the power of my engine with a leaf blower and I want to make sure the rear can take the extra abuse. I won't be drag racing but I will be running a 315 tire and driving it hard on the road course / street fun.

I compiled a list of parts necessary for the swap and I still need to order and buy them (best place to do so??).

Anyhow, my question is, I am keeping the stock gear set in the rear, does that mean I do not need to change shims and can re-torque everything back and be good to go?

Or will some parts change my lash/clearances?

I am not trying to "skimp out", I just do not see anything in the upgrade that would effect that.

Thanks

You are correct, no re-shimming required.
Gene culley @ GM partshouse here on the forum can help with parts.

Are you going with the Sears or the Ryobi leaf blower?

There is a write up on how to do this. If you change the pinion support you will need to reshim.

Leaf blower? Serious?

I hear Sears has better torque lol no not serious :p

I'll shoot gene an e-mail for a quote. I have a bunch of other parts I need as well which I hope he can help me with.

As for the pinion support, is it worth upgrading that or is that really for the guys running a steeper rear gear + drag launches?

Not trying to be a smarta$$ but if you have to ask this you are probably gonna get over your head trying to do this yourself. These rears are different and require special tools and experince with them.
Strongly advise you to stick with DTE, RTK56, or RPM. I wish I had.

That is fair and I appreciate your concern.

This is why I want to do as much research as possible before diving into it.

I have done many other rear ends before and yes this one is very finicky by design, which is a reason I was hoping I could increase the output shaft strengths, put in a better tlock and be done with it. I will be keeping the same 3.42 gears inside because I do not have the proper tools for a total rebuild.

This was one of the most rewarding and positive mods that I have ever undertaken.

The repair was straight forward and for the improvement, very cost effective.

I did order the DTE cross shaft and Belleview washers.. Gene Culley had good prices on all the other stuff.

I had ZERO issues after the repair.
