I have a 99 vert which i just bought with 11.000 miles on it ,, after driving it for a 1.000 miles the service vechicle soon came on ,, iI took car to the dealer and the i asked what code came up and was told by the tech it was DTC CO710 steering position single malfunction, and replaced the part,, Now the car seems to steer a little harder than before ,,, is there some kind of adjustment that should be done,, some type of a valve or what,,?? or what :chevy Called dealer and they said to bring it back ,,, i will let all know what they found ???? :)
For many years the Corvette Service Manual stated that the steering effort could be adjusted to make it lighter or heavier. That is just plain WRONG, there is no effort adjustment, although other things that are done to the system may have the side effect of making steering a little lighter or heavier.
Chevrolet finally admitted last year that the manual was wrong, although I don't know if they have actually corrected it. Now if they will change the part where it says that lug nut torque should be 140 ft/lbs (correct number is 100 ft/lbs), the part that says there is an engine oil cooler in the left radiator tank (not there, I've had my radiator out), etc.....
Looking at the shop manual, I see that you need to disassemble a good part of the steering column to
get to that particular part. Maybe when it went back together, something was overtightened.
Or maybe, it was too loose to begin with....................... either way, tighter steering seems like a GOOD thing...
at least you know the wheel is connected to SOMETHING! :yesnod:
