CAGS Defeat . . . Why???
Under the SAME acceleration, sometimes the light goes on and other times it does NOT, and yet, I can feel the 2nd gear lockout both times.
Is there a reason the light is coming on at certain times and not others?
Is my viewpoint wrong or will the time come when I finally realize that I should have installed it? I thought we were supposed to drive these cars like we stole 'em!
To think any different about why CAGS is there, I'd think someone is either naive, or in denial (unless they are talking tongue-n-cheek :) ); but thats just my opinion.

Just after getting the car, I was turning left onto a freeway entrance that had two lanes that merged into one. Due to CAGS I had to shift into 4th and then this guy on a Harley punches it barely in front of me...and no way could I get it back to a decent gear in time in time to make a run for it...so I just kind of hung back until he was ahead of me and that's when I decided that I was never again going to be left wanting a lower gear and not having it available. You've got to have the power there when you need it, regardless of the situation.

Now, if the above seems a lot of "ands" that means that its not going to happen all the time.
Additionally, now that I know that when the "1-4 shift" light is illuminated that if I chose to shift from first I will go to fourth else one just drives through the interlock and changes to second. No big deal, honestly. Of course, that's assuming I haven't already changed up to second which, in traffic, I probably already had.
Until I understood how CAGS worked I was annoyed and even concerned about being able to change at the right time. Now I understand how CAGS works, for me its a non-problem.
Please, those of you with the CAGS bypass, no flames intended I just wanted to balance the scales a little and show that there are those of us with daily drivers who do not need the CAGS bypass and there are no maverick Hondas queued up to take potshots at me at blind turns either ;)

Because I feel like a dork when I decide to shift into second and I grab fourth by mistake, and I don't need my car's help in making me feel like a dork.
I got my !CAGS installed by a nice man who did me a favor at my museum delivery.

Thanks Adam.
I've driven my wife's Formula with CAGS. It doesn't happen often but it's irritating when it does. I just can't get used to the idea of finding out how the car is going to behave by looking at an idiot light or feeling it halfway through a shift.
I get better fuel economy than my wife anyway.
