Default electrical problem... no rear lights!

My car is a 99 frc. This summer on and off my turn signals wouldn't work and now it is to the point where I have no rear lights at all. If the brake pedal was pressed with the signals on the signal indicator light on the dash would stay lit up without blinking if you release the brake pedal it flashes quickly. Right now the car has no rear lights no brake lights running lights turn signals etc. I believe all the front lights work and the signals flash normal I will double check. Is there certain grounds I can check? or any ideas would be helpful. thanks in advance!

I forgot to add I just bought a brand new multifunction switch which I thought was the problem from gm and it didn't solve the problem.

When I had no rear running lights it was the multifunctional lever but you said you replaced that already. I imagine you checked the fuses all ready. Maybe do a search for hazard switch replacement.

Hows the balancer? My electrical gremlins stemmed from a bad Mutifunction Switch and Wobbling Balancer. I had similar issues you had but I had brake lights.

As you can see from the schematic (see below)your turn signals and brake light go through the hazard and multifunction switch. Since you replaced the multifunction it is probably/could be the hazard switch. There is also at least one connector under the car that could be loose. Let's not jump to conclusions yet. If you PM or email me with your phone number we can talk and solve this problem. It helps in diagnostics when a problem gets "locked in" instead of something that comes and goes.

It does not show in the schematic I posted but the 3rd high mounted brake light wire goes around both of these. However, the 3rd light and all the rear lights do have a common (same) ground at the rear. I would like to know if the 3rd brake light works.

I would also like to know if you use the emergency flasher if the rear lights flash as they should.

well I had a chance to look into my problem today and it turned out to be the harness for the rear lights. apparently when I did the clutch three years ago the harness never got fully latched. it was still together but had slid apart just enough that it didn't make a connection. All of my lights work now and thanks for the help from everyone it was much appreciated!!!!
