You're not just going to snap in a cam and be happy... No matter what cam you purchase.

There are NUMEROUS other things that you have to do and some that you should consider to make the improvement worth the time and effort.

What is your budget and what other MODS are you doing to support the cam change??????

Please be specific.

hey bill thank you for the reply, sorry for being so blunt. but what im looking for is the basics of a cam change id would need push rods, rockers, springs etc. what cam could i go with to use with stock heads? i plan in the future to use a pro-charger. i like a real choppy lumpy cam like the vindictor cam that i saw the other day. like this cam. but i think its too much for a boosted application what you think? what would i need to run a cam like this?

Well........ You either have a BIG nasty cam like the one in your Vid,, OR,,,,, install a blower cam and run it till you can get a blower.

There isn't ONE cam that will serve both purposes.

Personally,,,,,,,,,,, If it were me and I had to do it all over again, I would go hog wild with a blower install. It wont sound like that KILLER CAM but,,, you will have a LOT more power with more driveability and less likely to break valve train parts.

Every time I hear a C5 or C6 go by with a supercharger, I think MAN,,, I wish I would have gone the other way.

I have a heads cam fast 90 car. It makes 450 RWHP and thats plenty but, for a little more cash, I could have had 650

Depends on how you tune the idle tables, a blower cam can give you some lope. A lot of that sound is the exhaust system.

For a reliable engine you will need:

New oil pump
LS7 Timing chain
New lifters, Recommend the new LINKED Lifters New rocker trunnions or for a high lift cam, roller tip rockers
New Damper (pinned)
Shaft rockers for a high lift cam
New Damper Bolt Recommend ARP Bolt
New Injectors 42 lb/hr for a big cam/ 60 lb/hr blower
High flow Fuel Pump for blower
New springs and valve seals either way

All the gaskets

Recommend upgraded parts

Fast 92/ 90mm TB for a Heads cammed
Ported LS6 Manifold for a blower application
LOTS of drive train upgrades!!! Stock will NOT last long either direction you go!!!
ARP Head Studs either application!!!!
New 2BAR MAP Sensor for the blower application
Headers
New O2 Sensors
Wide Band for the blower app.

NOTE! For a really big cam, you will need to FLY CUT the pistons for the intake valves. If your cam bearings are worn, you will need NEW cam bearings!

Then you will need a tune

How thick is your wallet????????????????????:c heers: It will be real thin real quick!

X2. You need to decide if you are going 450+ NA power or 450+ Boosted power. like bill said, a lumpy cam is not a good boost cam. Boost cams are very mild tipically. you will make 450+hp boosted alot faster and easier then NA. NOW you have a 04 so if you go boost you will mostlikely need to make the fuel system a "Return" style (which it is not now). A&A makes a great kit that will get you where you want. I would start with the basics that will work either way you go... Headers w/ X-pipe, Catback and Intake (you can allways sell if you go boost), Ported Heads (Stock Z06 243 heads are good ported).

you don't need a huge cam to make 420rwhp with a z... mine is 230 on both sides .572/.578 lift on 115lsa and put down 419/386 with lg superpros and a vararam... I have corsa xtremes and no cats and it sounds pretty gnarly... I did a smaller cam because I knew I was going to boost it later on but wanted more lope than stock plus the gains will be even better when boosted
