I started my car up about 5 minutes ago and the DIC is saying Low oil pressure. The guage sweeps over when you click the ignition on but when you start the car the oil pressure guage is pegged on 0. I just got home 30 mintues ago from Virginia and had no problems on the way. Where is the oil pressure sensor located? Could the oil pump be bad or the sensor came unplugged? Thanks for any quick help!

Well, I searched the archives and found that the oil pump has been known to go out on LS1's. I found numerous posts about red loctite on the valve so I decided to do what is necessary. Roughly 2 hours later the oil pump is out and the motor is ready for a new one.
This situtation is kinda weird because this morning I drove to virginia(75 miles round trip) and had no problems out of the car, the oil pressure was normal, oil level was normal, temps were normal. When I got back from virginia, I cleaned the house up for about an hour and decided to go back out and cruise. I started the car up and the DIC says "Low oil pressure". I go to the oil pressure screen and sure enough oil pressure is LOW. My thoughts were if you don't hear any louder valvetrain noice than its probably the sensor but why take a chance. Hopefully one of the local chevy dealers will have a oil pump in stock so I can get the car back together tomorrow so I can go racing!
Does anyone have any ideas why this oil pump would die for no apparent reason? I can imagine that the oil pump would die that quickly and without any signs. Thanks for any input.

Well I guess you have located the oil pressure sensor by now, and it was OK. Just a thought - no idea if it is relevant: I have avoided underdrive pulleys on my C5 since I have been told that none of them are real harmonic balancers. I wonder could the crank pulsations (without the correct harmonic balancer) could eventually destroy an oil pump?
