A short time ago I replaced the stripped gears in my headlamp door motors and all was working fine until I noticed a noise coming from the car with everything off. It turned out to be the right motor running constantly. I checked the motor and it was coming apart at the cover over the gear so I assumed if I replaced the motor the noise would go away. It doesn't and also if I unplug the motor so that the noise goes away, there is a draw on the battery causing a flat dead battery. I'm hoping I can find some help here because electricity and me are really a problem. I've been reading about the headlamp control module and can this cause the problem? If it can why would it not affect both sides?
Not at home now, but if no one beats me to it I will refresh myself with the schematic and give you some guidance. It does sound like the module is the root of your problem. Don't remember if the module has a dedicated fuse you can pull or if not what else it might affect. BTW, there is history on modules that fail and cause only one side to not work. Here is one link to look at until I can get to my FSM. There are other Threads, just do a Goggle search, I like that better than trying a direct Forum search. Mr. Sam
Looked in the FSM and based on what you said is happening I recommend you replace the control module. It has separate inputs for power for each motor and separate outputs to each headlight door motor. Pulling Fuses 3 and 4 in the engine fuse box should terminate any battery loss issues without affecting any other circuits.. I can post the schematic if you want but the circuit is really basic.
Also if you want to talk over the phone to discuss just email or PM me with your number.
Any of y'all who are having problems recently install HID lights in your cars?
Suggest you start another Thread. This one is not related to the headlights, but the door motors. I don't like making a diagnostic Thread any longer than necessary, plus you will better get to the correct target population. Thanks, Sam
I will be glad to look at your new Thread but I suggest you state what your problem or question is. I have helped several people with installations including designing/installing new harnesses to handle bigger amp loads.
