Default Now It Goes "CLUNK"...?????

2002 ZO6. I am getting increasingly frustrated with this car. Haven't really ever pushed it hard. Got it with about 60k miles on it, and am beginning to think it was run very hard by past owners. Have fixed a host of small problems; leading up to having to replace the steering assembly. The mounts that secure it to the frame broke off. (?!?!?!!?)

When the steering was done, I had new tie rod ends installed in both front and rear suspension. A week later, it felt like it was drifting while driving and making clunks from front right side. Shop found a loose tie rod end and fixed it. NOW, a few months later and perhaps 1500 miles of driving total....when I turn right to full or almost full lock, there is a hard "Clunk, clunk, clunk" noise if I drive in a circle. Sounds like it may be the right rear of the car. Backing out of parking spaces, I now get another clunk on what sounds like the left rear (might still be right...can't tell for sure). At first, it only made the noise when going into a parking space, where I turned the wheels tightly. Of course, it also only did it while my wife was in the car...so she doesn't trust it or want to ride in it anymore.

Is there some common problem that causes this?

I would take a look at the wheel bearings.

Veteran knowledgeable Ft end/susp guy should be able to help you.
Chasing susp noises can be a task, but the louder the clunk the easier it is to find.

This was my first guess. Haven't had time or a place to do so yet.....

Actually, the longer I have owned it the more I have come to feel it was wrecked...and worst than I originally thought. Front and back bumpers are both repainted...but doesn't look like at frame straightening or other work underneath it. Whatever it is, this car seems like it was abused.

A buddy is installing a lift at his house- so I am hoping he is done soon and I can run over there to look at things.

Being wrecked is nothing to do with it ..may be some one before you had done some suspension work on it...I had the "clunk" sound in mine to I thought it was the bearing too , but it wasnt ...I looked around the rear suspension by checking make sure that nothing loose and I found it : the bolt on one of the lower control arm was loose , so I tighten it up and double checked all othe ones and now no problem since!!!..
