Default Oil pressure?????????? on a 99 Vette

This may seem boring but I am giving details just in case it has any relavancy to the diagnosis.
I just bought my C5 this saturday(7/6). What a glorious feeling. Everything checked out fine(so I thought) and it rode fantastic. Drove for about an hour and a half(interstate speed)and then pulled into my daughter's driveway and parked the car. It was on an incline. Had to give her and her husband a ride. Started up the car and the oil guage shows no oil pressure!! The readout says the same thing. My heart sinks to my stomach. After what seems to be an eternity(30 secs if that long?) it starts to slowly come back up. Everything seems normal again. A couple of hours later we come home; it started fine showing pressure and on the way home the pressure seemed normal.
Today Sunday I go out and check the oil level. Full and looking clean. I check the oil filter installed and it looks brand new. So I'm thinking everything is normal. Start car and pressure seems normal, about 45lbs(is that normal?). Get car engine warm and shut it off. Come back shortly start it up and no pressure again??? But again after a few seconds it finally comes up(less than 40, maybe 35-36 lbs).
The car is a 99, 6 speed, and only 4K miles on it. Only mod I think is the Corsa exhaust. Any suggestions????? I realize I need to contact the car lot(they're not a dealer), but sometimes we know more than they do so am asking you what might be to check for.

When I got my 2001 with 3 miles on and drove home I had no oil pressure at all and took back to the dealer next day and was a sensor that was bad and did not harm the car. Thats what they told me and have 21000 miles on now and no problems. They told we at my dealer back then that they had replaced a lot at that time and know someone else that had the same problem and was fixed. Dont know if that is what is wrong with yours but that is what went wrong with mine. Good luck and enjoy the car.

I had the same problem. It was my oil pump sticking. I would start the car up and it would say no pressure (but you can hear the valves were ok)then about ten seconds it would come up to normal. Finally one day I started it and it sounded very bad no oil up top. I shut it down and had the dealer come for it. It was a bad oil pump. There was a problem with sticking oil pumps in the 98's and some 99's I have a 99. I did not ever let it run longer than a few seconds so every hting was alright.

Your vehicle and mine look similar. What was the cost to fix? I'm assuming yours was fixed under warranty. Mine will be a 50/50 thing with the car sales place I'm afraid??
