If traction control is causing wheel hop you should turn it off. No problem. Will look at my FSM later to see what may be causing that. If you still get wheel hop with TC off then you know it is not an electronic control issue.
I doubt its the TC unless you are feeling a power drop with it. Its a place to start but prb tire or suspension related. Def fix that before you break parts.
What kind of tires are you running? I actually had to use traction control for my best times on street tires. Its a must to turn it off when running drag radials though. I never had TC effect the way the car launches. Tried plenty of times with it on an off. Wheel hop will come from suspension, chassis/mounts, and tires. One of the first things I did was replace the trans/diff mount with Pfadt racing's unit. Never had an issue with wheel hope since. Street or drag tires.

I have run 3 different tire setups. EMT's and non, Goodyear and Michelin. The only thing that fixed it for me was the Pfadt full setup with a lowering of 1"-1/1/4" or so No more hop at all, lots of power transfer, and corners on rails! Current shoes are Michelin Pilot Sports, non EMT.
I had a BASE FE1 Suspension 98 Coupe (it also had F45 RTD Shocks) and stock run flat tires. It was plagued with wheel hop. I'm very lucky that I never broke anything.
Now I have an 02 ZO6. I have had very little if any wheel hop issues.
Your base suspension and RUNFLATS tires are the primary contributors to your issue.
Unless you want to jump right into a coil over system, here is what I recommend:
New C6 ZO6 shocks (direct fit and only $250 new for all four)
Z51 or ZO6 Sway bars. You can fine them used for a great price.
Z51 or ZO6 springs front and rear. You can fine them used for a great price.
Different tires, Yours are old and very hard. I went with NON RUNFLAT but there are some better choice RUNFLATS that work better than your old ones.
PFADT differential Brace
What tire pressure do you run.
I found that running 28-30 PSI rear tire pressure on the base suspension was the best pressure.
IMHO You need to limit wheel hop or have a spare rear end hanging around just in case.
