Help Needed Jack-Hammer sound!
Hi,
Maybe some of you long-time Vette experts can help me out. I have experienced an intermitant noise coming from my car.
It is a 2001 M6 convertible.
It has happened when idleing and has occurred a couple of times several seconds after the engine was shut off..
I have no other problems, no warning lights or DIC messages and the car seems perfect. The only mod is the TOP Down Tech Windows Valet, which works perfectly.
It's been hot here, so I thought it may be the cooling fan. The sound is like a muted jack-hammer.
I will take it to the dealer, but since it happens rarely, I'm afraid that they might not find anything.

Sorta sounds like a rattle? Try leaving the clutch in when turning off the key and see if this helps. MN6 equipped vettes have this common rattle and is a normal sound when clutch pedal is out when shutting off. :yesnod:

I'm not sure that's it though, as the sound sometimes occurs when the engine is idleing, (usually after decelerating).
