Over the years and other vehicles I have become a big fan of copper gaskets with Permatex spray copper sealant and locking bolts. Interested to hear any LS specific recomendations.
I'm about to install a set of Sanderson headers on my lincoln Mk IV 460. They say to use NO gasket, just high temp silicone because of their flange design. We'll see how that works out.

Reason: afterthought
+1 on the stock multi layer steel gaskets. I bought new gaskets for the h/c/i swap and did not like the bolts ability to snug them up. Swapped to studs and reused the new gaskets. With studs and mls gaskets you cant ask for any better sealing.

+6 on the OEM GM steel gaskets. Never once had any issues.
Be sure to get the gaskets with round ports if you have headers. They came on 1998-2002 Camaro Z28s. I know some C5 gaskets are D-shaped (perhaps just LS6 engines). If you get the Camaro gaskets you'll be sure they are correct.
