Ok so I ordered the 102 intake, fuel rail kit, and throttle body for my 03 Z06 and thought since I followed fasts recommended parts list to a T I would have no problem. I was wrong. First the fuel rail kit isn't complete which they do not mention, I had to get the fuel lines. Second the throttle body doesn't work because fast only offers the cable operated and my ls6 is DBW... I wasn't even aware of this but when I contacted the seller with my issue they told me that some ls6's were cable operated and some dbw. Is this true? What came with a cable ls6? I'm sure the cts-v wasn't and I know that the f-bodies didn't even come with an ls6... I've read on here that people run the nick Williams and some run the fast. I ordered the fast because I just wanted to stick with all fast parts figuring I couldn't go wrong. I'm kinda irritated with fasts lack of information as to what is needed to complete this intake swap. Any info about what I missed or didn't understand about the ls6s would be great, I'm just getting into the ls motors and this totally slipped past me.
Any Corvette, LS1 or 6 is DBW. And I think some SS Camaro's actually came with an LS6 and had the cable operated TB. I think because Ive heard of several with an LS6. Not totally sure if thats true.
That's what I heard and they list their throttle body as compatible with the corvettes... I think the SS Camaro just has the ls6 intake but I could be wrong.
Sorry to hear about your issues. It's no fun when your sold the wrong or incomplete parts for your car. No 5C corvettes came with a manual TB only LS cars that used a manual TB were the Camaros. OK since unless your racing the car you really can't use the Manual TB. Best thing to do at this point would be to return the TB if you can. If not sell and take the loss. I would recommend the LS2 style TB its DBW. Make sure to get the early style. You will also need the LS2 to LS1 adapter wiring. I would not Recommend the NW102 TB even though there DBW. Its more money and I had an issue with the new one I installed on my 2003. Kept going into reduced power. Replaced it with a LS2 TB and now no issues. You can pickup a LS2 style on Amazon brand new or look to the forum for used.
Cool thanks for that info, that's what I'm gonna do. I've read multiple places that people have a hard time tuning with the nw102 and it's way more expensive!
Yeah I've also read about people not having any issues with them and my tuner is quality, arguably the best in Colorado. I just don't want to take any chances but I also wouldn't have bought the 102 intake if I didn't want a 102 tb lol. Decisions decision... Big price difference as well.
