I went out to start my 2001 M6 and have no power at all. Headlights don't turn on, car won't lock or unlock and absolutely nothing happens when I turn the key. Battery has a full charge and the connections to the battery terminals are solid. I did a search on this forum and came up with nothing about this problem in particular. I saw a few threads about cleaning corroded grounds but not sure if that would completely cut all power. Any ideas or suggestions?
What would you do with any other car that did this?? I'd get out my Jumper Cables or Battery Charger with start feature and START THE CAR. Cleaning and making sure the terminals are tight is always good advice and a GREAT place to begin. Also getting a cheapy volt meter is also a handy tool to have around.

When I hook my battery tender up to the car, I hear a knocking sound. It is a consistent noise that knocks about once per second. Anyone know what this might be or be a sign of?

If the sound is coming from under the dash then that would be a relay opening and closing because it is not getting enough power. If you allow it to continue you will destroy the relay. You really need to get the battery load tested.
I finally got the battery out and got a ride to the parts store. 8vette7 was right, the battery was shot. It was less than 2 1/2 years old but luckily still under warranty so they just gave me a new one. Put it in and she fired right up! As for the knocking sound, it wasn't coming from the dash or the foot well. It seemed to be coming from the front of the motor somewhere. Possibly a little more on the passenger side but not sure.
I'm sure it was frustrating the heck out of you guys that I didn't just run down to the parts store for a load test but I am currently disabled and can't drive anywhere (broken neck and back). I'm doing what I can and really appreciate the help! Thanks!
