Default Wheel question?

Hi am debating to do a rear wheel swap. I would like to know the pros and cons, and if it's doable. I have a 2000 c5 vert. I would like to swap out the rear rims and tires for a lager size. I have z06 rims OME sizes think they are 10.5 wide,. I would like to know if it will work b4 i buy tires for it. Would they stick out to much? Would I need spacers? Or maybe someone has already done this and may have pictures and information.
Thank you all in advance.

The Z06 wheels fit fine. They are 17"x9.5" front and 18'x10.5" rear. I have put them on my '99 targa and my '99 FRC without spacers. The fit on a convertible will be the same.

There are a couple of common tire sizes.

Base sizes are
Front 245/45/17 25.7" OD
Rear 275/40/18 26.7" OD

The Z06 sizes are
Front 265/40/17 25.4" OD
Rear 295/35/18 26.1" OD

Although they are not the biggest tires (but still bigger than the base C5), a combination that I like is:
Front 255/45/17 26.1" OD
Rear 285/40/18 27" OD
Some people think they are too small for these wheels, but I like them. I suppose different brand/model of tires may be slightly different if they run wider or narrower.

These sizes fit on either the base C5 wheels or the Z06 size wheels. I have this setup on Z06 wheels on my '99. These sizes are closer to the base C5 stock diameters than the Z06 sizes too, so it keeps the speedometer closer. (60.7 mph actual shows 60 mph on the speedometer). The stock Z06 sizes (265/40/17 and 295/35/18) are smaller diameter. (58.8 mph actual shows 60 mph on the speedometer) The 255 and 285 sizes keep the front to back diameter stagger good so the active handling/traction control systems are happy.

Good luck with your choices.

Thank you for you reply. this is great information I have a few more questions? for you.
I have four Zo6 Rims 17 & 18 with your setup, Front (265/40/17 &Rear 295/35/18) do they rub in front when you make a turn? or stick out from the rear? I noticed you did not mention any brands? what are you running? did your handeling change? and finally would you have any pictures showing the tires from the rear?
thank you again for your time.

People put Z06 wheels on their coupes and verts all the time. You wont have any issues. Good place to get an idea of what tires fit is to go onto summitracing.com. Select tires and look at the minimum and maximum recommended rim size they fit on. As long as you keep in their range, they will fit fine.

There are no issues since those are the stock Z06 sizes. Just look at any stock Z06 pictures to see how they fit from the rear. (I didn't find one right away when I looked for a picture of mine from the rear.) There are probably a lot of Z06 pictures here on the forum.

Yes, I noticed an improvement in handling but I had the stock runflats before so many choices would have been an improvement. It was substantially quicker response to steering. It was enough that I noticed more body roll on quick turns. (That also caused me to do the C6 Z51 upgraded sway bars. I love them, it corners flat again.)

My tires are not what most people would want. I have Goodyear Eagle F1 supercars on the rear and Sumitomo HTRZ on the front. These would not be my first choice, but I got them so cheap I couldn't refuse.

Good luck.
