Default Lower temp thermostat install question

I'm thinking about installing a 170 degree thermostat on my 2000 coupe, but I'd like to know how I can get the fans to come on at 180 degrees. I know there is some sort of programmer available, but I need to know if it is expensive and if it is difficult to operate.

To keep the temps down, in stop and go traffic, you need the fans to come on earlier. Install the adjustable fan control module (availible at Pep Boys for $39). I have e-mailed you some step by step install instructions. This is the same module that many forum vendors sell for $150 to $180.

Do you think you could post the directions here, or post them in the tech tips section? Or if you are not tired of emailing yet, please shoot me a copy. That would help a lot. Thanks.

I have the 172 thermostat, but have not installed it. Did it lower your temp at all when you put it in ? I was hoping to not have to get the fan controller (yet). Please let me know. Thanks.

I've got a spare one of those controllers that is still in the box. If someone wants it, and will pay the shipping, I'd be happy to give it to you. I don't need it.
