Help: Service traction control/active handling
ABS is still active. Mechanic with a tech 2 said it was brake switch open (code C1292 I think) but the brake lights come on and the brake pedal will disable cruise control. I do have LED brake lights so I'm curious if there's a minimum current needed in the switches?
Going to remove the switches tomorrow and clean the internal contacts for good measure.
Is this a code that needs to be cleared or will it go away on the next ignition cycle if I fix the problem?
PROBLEM SOLVED!!
The open switch code was caused by a combination of my LED tail lights (converted to euro) and the 3rd brake light being hooked up to a flasher. The current load of all of these hooked together was not enough to give a solid signal to the computer. I installed a load resistor on one of the tail lights and that fixed the problem.

I had the exact same thing on my 04. I have no clue as to why the steering wheel position sensor has anything to do with the traction control & active handling, but it does.
Good Luck!
I'm 99% sure it has to do with my LED tail lights. I run them without a resistor because I like hyper flash and I used the resistors as donor parts on customer's lights that had a problem. I recently did a modification to my 3rd brake light. I'm going to re-install a resistor on one of the tail lights and see if that fixes the problem.
edit: That was it. See OP for solution.
