Default stall converter

If one does not plan to take the car to the track , is there any significant reason one should install a stall converter? I had Cam,LS6 Intake, pp/tb, kooks lt's, xpipe and axle backs, done 9 months back and did not change converter, and love the way it drives . Im better fan of the High Way. Getting ready to install Advanced Inductions, HCR 241's on the car....xzo

Basically a stall converter can help keep your car from lurching forward if you have a big cam when you are at stop lights, etc.

Now from a performance perspective, this article will explain it better than I could ever explain it: http://www.lsxtv.com/tech-stories/ho...que-converter/

Hope this helps

A high stall converter will put your motor into its powerband quicker under full throttle conditions. For example, my yank ss3600 ensures that the minimum rpm my motor spins under full throttle is around 4000. That's putting a lot more power to the wheels than a stock converter. Additionally, it's slightly looser from idle up and it helps my big cam motor idle under regular driving conditions. Yank converters are pretty tight and you will barely notice a difference over stock until you lay into the throttle. They really help wake automatic cars up. You'll want to ditch the 2.73s if you decide to go with a converter though.

I had a strong 383 Stroker in a Camaro and I had to go to a loose stall converter, at a stop light I could not keep the car from moving forward. It was scary. The loose converter also helps with stopping and sure makes for some good fun doing burn outs.

If you want to take full advantage of the power that you have from the mods that you have done and are about to do, you will need a stall.

Call Chris at Circle D Converters. He will answer your questions. They are in TX

By the way. You will love AI's 241 HCR work.

I could not agree more. Excluding NOS a stall is the best bang for the buck on an A4.

Might as well get some drag radials and head to the track now!

A track has turns. A drag strip does not. Please do not confuse the 2.

What stall do you have coming? With good enough tires you will be able to take off with much more torque hitting the ground.

Having a stall will make a huge difference in your tune. It will allow your tuner to set the neutral idle speed @ ~700 rpms. Without one, it will likely be 1000 - 1200 rpms and you'll be standing on the brake pedal at stop lights.
