LS3 top end conversion questions
1998 C5-
I don't want to overload this forum with several threads regarding questions about the ls3 topend conversion, so I will just ask the questions in this particular thread.
I am looking at an LS3 throttle body, gold blade. This particular throttle body came off of a crate engine, but it appears to not have a TPS. I know the original throttle body came with a TPS. I will be using a stock LS3 intake manifold, which I believe is 4 bolts.
How can I make this throttle body work, or is there another GM 4 bolt throttle body that will work with the 98-05 TAC module that is 4 bolt.
Also, I currently do not have any exhaust manifolds. Should I find some used 98-2004 manifolds, or is there some upgraded STOCK manifolds that will work fine for this swap. I have the factory exhaust.
This will be on a IRON 6.0 engine.
Should I go with an LS6 oil pump, or is the melling oil pump better?
Which water pump has been proven better if there is one. I want to stay with OE, or aftermarket OE style parts.

The tb with the gold blade will not work on a c5 but only on later year LS3 and LS7s. You need a silver blade tb from either an LS2 or early LS3 which are both 90mm. The melling oil pump will give you better oil pressure and volume so its a good upgrade as well. As for cooling the oem water pumps are pretty decent but if you have the cash I'd look into an evans road race water pump.
