Fortunately S.F. Bay Area weather let's me drive my C5 year 'round. But if I don't drive it at least every other week my battery goes dead. I have a 6amp charger but would rather have a battery "maintainer" so I don't have to charge as often. What's a good tender? Price range?
You can find it a little cheaper on Amazon or elsewhere.
Been using for three years on all of my cars (I have one for each car) and no complaints. Best part is they can be used on flooded, AGM and gel batteries.
I tried the battery tender a few years ago. The unit got hot and the battery would go dead. I just put mine on a trickle charge once a week and all is good. I don't need a fire in the garage to keep me warm, I live in California. Rod

It also contains desulphation circuitry, whereas most others do not.

That's what I found. I opened the garage to an acrid burnt electronics smell that was once my Battery Tender. The "Warranty Repair" cost $5 less than the cost new, so much for that. Then the new one went up in smoke again. Have been using the CTEK since then without any issues at all.
I use the $20 one from walmart made by Schumacker, only problem is the ring connector only fits the bolt on top post batteries(I use one on my Mercedes), it is too small to fit a side post, so I called and they are sending me one, in the mean time I use the clamps, or I could buy the Battery Tender rings that fit a side post and also will connect to a Schumacker.
If you are not going to drive the car enough to keep the battery charged, I would remove the battery and fully charge it. Without parasitic loads, the battery should stay charged a lot longer between usage. I don't like leaving chargers plugged in and unattended for long periods of time.
