Default Ghost of EBCM Failure Future

I believe my '99 C5 and I have been visited by the Ghost of EBCM Failure Future! Over the past several months I have gotten some foreshadowing of problems to come - Service ABS and Service Traction Control messages. Has happened only 3 or 4 times and turning off the engine/ignition and restarting ("the Microsoft method") has resolved the issue and cleared the messages (only temporarily, I fear).

Is this how the eventual failure manifests itself - occasional hiccups like this? That then become more and more frequent until finally becoming permanent?

Yes, I know about running the codes - have done it in the past, just didn't have time to do it yesterday as "She-who-tolerates-the-Corvette" was not tolerating it much yesterday and wanted me doing "getting ready for Christmas company" things.

Here is what I got just now:
28-TCS - C1226 H & C1255 H
58-SDM - B1001 H
AO-LDCM - B2284 H, U1064 H
A1-RDCM - B2285 H, U1064 H
A6-SCM - U1160 H
BO-RFA U1096 H, U1064 H, U1016 H

No Codes on 10-PCM, 40-BCM, 60-IPC, 99-HVAC. 80-Radio gave me a No Comm, but I have an aftermarket unit.

That C1255 is the "Internal EBTCM Malfunction" and the worrisome one, right? I see that code C1256 is the "Internal EBCM Malfunction." What is the difference between EBCM and EBTCM?

I agree.. Clear the DTC and if the car farts wrong,, immediately read the DTCs and write down everything that has a DTC.

The loss of communications codes are interesting. If they continue to happen, we have areas to examine that can cause that issue.

Car has 54K miles on it. I cleared the codes and took it out this morning - no codes upon return. I will probably start cleaning grounds in case that might help and just 'cause it oughtta be done.

Cleaned the two grounds behind the headlamps - biggest problem was getting the plastic housings apart. They were remarkably clean - no corrosion at all, not much grime. Also did the ground underneath the battery - again, very clean.

It's sunny today, so another test ride may be called for . . .
