2000 corvette throttle body problems
I need some tech help guys, I recently purchased a 2000 Vette. The throttle body had three sheared teeth on the throttle body shaft gear and every time the ignition switch was turned on the TB made a loud grinding sound. I replaced the TB and turned the ign switch on and it sounded much better going through the system test. I cranked the engine a couple times and on the third attempt the throttle plate locked in the full open position. After removing the TB I took off the TB drive motor and saw two teeth missing on the replacement TB. What could be causing these gears to strip off gear teeth?

bad metal? something in the gear area? best to find another TB and swap it. Might consider a upgrade to a LS2 (6.0L) and harness while its getting replaced, it will be ready for future mods. OR just another stocker.

The Throttle Actuation Control Module (TAC) controls the throttle position motor. If,, the module is overdriving the stepper motor and damaging the gears, the TAC module is bad.
My recommendation would be to replace the TAC Module and install a new TB.

The ECM, TAC module and throttle body were all replaced before the second TB was installed. I have searched hugh and low on the internet for TB gear teeth shearing off and have not found a single issue with this.
