Same here.... reached a max of 217 while sitting in the service bay running with AC on for 30 mins. Over 100F outside that day.

Thank you, everyone for the replies. I drained the radiator, changed the thermostat and refilled the coolant. The coolant temperature never got above 226 and as soon as the fans came on at low speed, the temperature immediately dropped back down. It never got hot enough to kick the high speed setting.

I have not cleaned the debris out of the radiator yet and expect to see even more improvement mafter that.

Could be as simple as the system needing to "burp" or a trapped air bubble.

The drilled T-Stat would take care o that by allow air to escape.

We ALL KNOW how BAD a little trapped air can be!
