Default Quieting the squeal

I have had my Baer Eradispeed rotors and Hawk Street pad combo on my ’99 vert for about seven months. After the initial seasoning and bedding process, all was well for about six months until a few weeks ago when I started hearing the front end squeal under light to medium braking. I thought I might have to rebed the pads so I went through the entire seasoning and bedding process and second time…to no avail. It is embarrassing to be the noisiest car coming to a rest at a stoplight, and not because of my engine/exhaust setup!

Anyway, I didn’t want to put gel on the back of the pads because I just didn’t think it’ll look good (you can see quite a bit of the pad backing material) so my GM mechanic recommended BG Chemical’s “Stop Squeal” (part #860). This compound goes on the friction surface of the pad once the pad is removed from the caliper. The compound is then allowed to soak in and dry before replacing the pads. The graphite in the compound is suppose to deaden the vibration without effecting performance.

Has anyone used this stuff? A pretty good webpage on “noisy brakes” (http://www.patgosscarworld.com/brakes.htm) has also recommended this product. I was also thinking of sanding down the leading edge on each pad…has anyone done this successfully with the rotor/pad combo I am using?

Thanks :mad
