What's up guys. I have a question I hope u can answer. I went to gas up my Vette today after sitting in garage a few weeks cause of snow here in NYC . When I first started the car it started right up. Went a few blocks to the gas station. Shut car off. Put in gas then when I went to start it up again I got one click noise and no start. Pulled the key back and tried again right away and it started right up ???? Tried to shut off the car and start again and no problems at all ! Ive also had the C1214 code thats been steady for a while. I know for that i need to send my ebcm to abs fixer. But can anyone know what it could have been as far as the starting question ?? Thx for any help.
The "start" wire on the solenoid is the little one. Not sure if you can even see it if you have manifolds. You will have to crawl underneath.
Mine did this once last year. I used a long handled breaker bar to tap the solenoid, and it fired right up. Never failed again, but I bought a new Bosch starter (since stolen for my 5.3 turbo project} as well as a new solenoid. The wiring was all tight.
You know, a man with a spare.
C5 is in storage, haven't seen it since Oct 31. A week after I lost my job......
Thx. Any easy way to find and identify the starter wire ?
The starter is located just below the midpipe/header on the passenger's side. You will likely need to remove the headers and/or mid pipe to access it on the passenger's side. Then tighten up the nuts! I believe the one that will need tightening is a 1/2" socket. Don't forget to loosen your battery cable... trust me haha. If you have long tube headers you'll be able to get to it with an extended ratchet without having to remove the headers, though it's a pain in the a$$
