I don't know of a local dealer but I can almost guarantee you it's your outside temp sensor that is bad. If you look at the display the car probably is telling you it's 65 outside when it's really 105.

Mine was doing that and the outside temp reading was 34 ... in Hawaii
I checked the sensor and found out that it had become disconected. Plugged it back in and she is blowing cold air just fine!
Re: Air Conditioner blows hot air only! (c4c5specialist)
C4c5, how does one go about homing the mix doors. My AC was fine yesterday, and today it was blowing marginally cool air but not out the front vents as usual. It was actually blowing air out the defrost, front and floor vents when the display was reading a mode of front vents only. Any ideas?
Re: Air Conditioner blows hot air only! (QwikSilvr)
You might try disconnecting your battery for 20-30 minutes, then reconnect it and try the HVAC. Some have reported success after trying this. It causes the actuators to move the temperature doors through their complete cycles. It forces them to traverse from full hot to full cold. Sometimes this technique will free up a sticking temp door. If that is your problem. You really need to pull your codes. That will tell you specifically where to look for the problem. You might also try pulling fuse # 27 from the passenger side footwell fuse box and then reinstalling it. This will supposedly accomplish the same thing. Both of these trouble shooting techniques are spelled out in the service manual. I tried them both, didn't help me. But when I pulled the codes, I found that I had a bad temp control actuator on the passenger side. Good luck!
Re: Air Conditioner blows hot air only! (QwikSilvr)
Hi there,
You may have a vacuum source condition, as if your mode does not change when selected, your vacuum acuators may not have any vacuum source, to control the change.
I believe that this would be a different issue than that of the original posting.
Please keep us posted, c4c5 :chevy
Re: Air Conditioner blows hot air only! (c4c5specialist)
c4c5,
That's exactly what it's acting like. When I change modes, nothing changes as far as air flow. Any ideas where to start? Is there something electrical like a fuse that I can check. I don't want to take it in for service :U if at all possible. Any and all tips are greatly appreciated.
Re: Air Conditioner blows hot air only! (QwikSilvr)
Hi there,
I would start by removing the passenger side inner fender, and looking to the rear of the PCM holding fixture.
There is a black cylinder, which acts as your vacuum reservoir. At the bottom, there will be a vacuum line, which is your source supply to the HVAC mode actuators.
Trace this line, and I think that you will find a broken or eaten away vacuum line. Once this is repaired, you should be just fine.
Also, check for any acid damage from a leaking battery, as my theory is that there is more there than just the hose. Look for any whitish deposits on the PCM casing, and the wiring harness.

Re: Air Conditioner blows hot air only! (c4c5specialist)
c4c5,
I pulled the inner fender and found the vacuum reservoir. I inspected the lines there and followed them to where they go thru the firewall area under the battery compartment and found no problems. I did pull the hose off the reservoir and got no vacuum at either the reservoir or the hose end. I pulled the codes from the computer and got this code pertaining to the HVAC system:
99 - B0441 H C
It appears the B0441 code means: Left Actuator Out of Range
Re: Air Conditioner blows hot air only! (QwikSilvr)
One more thing; there's a large rubber hose directly behind the PCM about 2 inches in circumference. I noticed this hose is split open on the end, even though it appears it was meant to be sealed because of it's tapered end. What is that hose and is it supposed to be open?
Re: Air Conditioner blows hot air only! (QwikSilvr)
HI there,
First, the large rubber hose is the cowl air box drain. However, just make sure that the drain is clear.
As for the canister, you should have had vacuum there, when you disconnnected the line.
I would attempt to start the car, and see if you have vacuum at the hose.
If you do NOT, there is a problem with that hose.

PS Has the intake been off the car???\

Re: no vacuum at the canister hoses (c4c5specialist)
When I checked for vacuum at the canister, it was with the car running. I had hoped that you were right earlier by guessing it may be one of the hoses that was shot. As far as I can see, the hoses (there are 2 of them) are both ok. I attempted to follow them, but once they go over the frame into the engine compartment, they are d@mn near impossible to follow. I think the one that goes to the engine for vacuum goes behind the engine near the firewall. I have no clue where that hose connects. I'm wondering if it is broken, cracked or has come loose from its connector. Do you know where that hose connects on the intake. As far as I know, the intake hasn't been off, but I'm not the original owner. Would I have to take the intake off to get to the connection at the intake? Thanks for your time and expertise. :chevy :yesnod:
Hi there,
The other end to the hose, is directly at the back of the intake.
Unfortunately, yes, the intake will have to be slid forward, to see this connection.
