My car went dead the other day after the rain rose to around 7 inches where it was parked. I filed a claim for flood damage yesterday and the adjuster is supposed to come out on monday to inspect it. when I was able to get enough power to retrive codes; through a jump, I got these

U1064 - U1064 Loss Of Communication with DCM (No SOH Message Received -RFA
IPC U1160 - U1160 Loss of Communications with LDCM
U1176 - U1176 Loss of Communications with RFA
BCM NO COMM
all related to loss of communication, also the steering collum will not unlock
(maybe due to not enough power ?) I looked at the BCM above the oassenger floorboardand it was wet too.
anyone had similar experience, anything I should be aware of as far as the claim ? What do you think is wrong :cry :chevy
Skeeter, I hate to tell you this... Flooded cars are usually totaled by the Insurance Co... You really dont want to keep a car that will be prone to Eternal electrical problems due to the fact that Water has entered most of the electrical systems in your car. Please keep us posted on what is decided regarding your car.
Glad to hear you didn't suck any into the engine with the Vortex.
How is the interior?
Most likely the PCM's are shot. Also the wiring harness may be FUBAR'd. I hear it's a bi7ch to replace and troubleshoot the main harness and wiring.
Good luck! I'd bring it to you know who. He's good, if bz. Don't mess up my Wed appt tho! ;)
totaled is no good as ive spent the last 2 years getting it to where it is now, with the 422,ect,ect. it has had some electrical demons previous to this, gonna push for fixing whats wrong.
Skeeter1 that really sucks........I hope everything works out for you. That is the very reason why I don't lower my car(I really want to) and have the Blackwing.....again good luck from a fellow Miami Vette broh.
It was running great prior to parking it so the engine should be fine, I guess the electrical sys is a pita though, PCM has Ed wright programing for my setup, hope its not done
Has anyone encountered this, e-mail or IM if you dont want to post please as I need advice :)
Let the vehicle dry out for a few days and see where that will get you... If I can make a suggestion, utilize some fans to air out in the vehicle and under the hood for it will speed up the process of removing moisture in the vehicle. Check your fuses also for some might be blown comsidering that water will create a short if any feeds are live... Just some thoughts and good luck!
Skeeter, I think flood damage is covered regardless of the vehicles activity at the time. We have seen that the insurance companies cover vehicles that get hydrolocked while moving as flood damage so they must consider flood damage from being stationary as well.
Skeeter1: I know your pain. The read question is did the interior get wet. By wet I mean did the water reach the computer? The insurance company rule of thumb is how high was the water inside the car. If it was seat or dash high, they will total the car. If not they will fix it.
The water never got in my car. The carpet was wet but not soaked and the computer was dry. My situation was a little unique. I was hit with a wall of water and the engine overdosed on rain water. A replacement engine and some other CYA things were replaced and GM maintained the new car warranty after the repairs. Drop me an email if you want to talk more.

Even if the insurance company totals it, there is a good chance you'll be bale to buy it back from them. This would get you your engine back without doing it all over again. You could then sell the original LS6 in the new car. You should talk to the insurance company about it.
Skeeter, the information you have received in this post has been good. Let me round it out for you.
1. This is a comprehensive claim. Whether or not the car was parked or moving makes no difference.
2. Based on your description, I would guess that the car will not be totalled. But if it is, you can buy the salvage rights to the car after the settlement..(but so can others) The company that I work for gives owners first right to purchase. Salvage is not a negotiable amount. The insurance company will have a written bid from a salvage yard for the salvage rights, and that is what you will have to pay..period. For newer cars it can be as much as 25-30% of the cars value.
3. Be aware that if your car is repaired and you discover additional damage later you can notify your insurance company. This comes under the heading of a supplemental claim, and is repaired without further deductible.
