Default Texas speed or Borla

I'm about to put headers on my 98 and ordered the borlas but now see that Texas speed has a kit for quite a bit less with an installation kit including a new dipstick I wasn't aware I needed along with all the hardware and the best part is they're ceramic coated.

Should I return the borla stuff and go with the Texas speed stuff?I went with the borla since its what on there now for a cat back.

Is the need for the new dipstick only when using Texas speeds exhaust set up or this needed for all the aftermarket kits?

Usually dipsticks always have to be modified, slightly bent, or position changed a little to fit. Sometimes they have nothing to bolt to and just sit from in the pan. Texas speed is a great company. Im sure you would not do better than to go with their stuff for the price.

Both headers should give simmilar performance. both are Long tube 4-1 style. as long as you are looking at headers with the same Primary size tubes you shouldnt see a big difference in performance. If you have the Borla LT headers allready i say run them, If you can cancel the order and not pay anything then the TS headers will save a few bucks.

The older C5's had a different disptick then the newer ones, I am running LS7 mainfolds and no modifications needed where as others with older vettes needed to mod their dipsticks to fit the same manifolds.

I know the old TSP headers were ceramic coated (I have them) they rust pretty quickly where the AC drips on the collector. I thought the new TSP headers were stainless. Are they ceramic coated stainless?

usually they coating is put on the mild steel to seel them, stainless offer a great heat barrior on their own so you dont allways see stainless with coatings..

Also it depends on what grade stainless is used. T304 is going to not rust like mild steel but T409 has higher Iron content so it will rust on the surface which actually will create a protective layer over the steel and prevent it from rusting threw (OEM exhaust is normally T409 stainless, most aftermarket exhaust uses T304 on exhaust unless otherwise noted).

I decided to keep the Borlas.figured I'd just leave it a matched system for figment and performance.

How much of a PITA are the long tubes to install in a 98?I called a buddy at the local dealership just to find out what gm says in the books and he came back with 5 hrs if they was to have a customer come in to have them installed.
