Friction materials that contain ceramic formulations have become recognized for their desirable blend of traits. Ceramic compounds use copper fibers (amongst other materials) in place of the semi-metallic pad's steel fibers. This allows the ceramic pads to handle higher brake temperatures with less heat fade, and provide faster recovery after the heavy braking.

Another characteristic that makes Carbotech Ceramic materials attractive is the absence of noticeable dust. All brake pads produce dust as they wear. Carbotech-Ceramic compound ingredients produce a light colored dust that is much less noticeable and less likely to stick to the wheels. On that same note, all Carbotech compounds produce a 100% non-corrosive dust that can usually be rinsed off with a hose.

My opinion is that I am very happy with 1521 on the street and xp10/xp8 on the track. I can run my track pads on the street and they are safe and work fine, they are noisy if i run them for over a week or 2 after a track day once they eat through the transfer layer. The layer is compatible so when you switch you don't have to reestablish it each time which is nice.

I have run a number of different major manufacturers street pads on different vehicals over the last 10 years and I can say carbotechs likely wont give you the bite you want. Crazy high initial bite isn't really a function of a good pad. You want control, i can lock my street tires with 1521's, but it doesn't happen on accident, that is how a proper brake pad should work. My street tires lock easier with xp10's but carbotechs are never violent and never catch you off guard.

If you aren't happy with the hawks you wont like the carbotechs imo.

Though i have never run any of them, it sounds to me like you want an autocross pad, as they are designed to exploit sticky tires with minimal heat. May be some significant noise/wear/dust compromise though with them.
